Join us at the 1903 Dougherty House at Mystery Hill for spooky workshops October 2-31. We’re combining our Appalachian heritage, folk tales, and herbal know-how to create these one-of-a-kind experiences for you. The workshops are FREE with admission to the Dougherty House (included in the Choice and Ultimate Ticket options). Here are the workshops currently planned:
Oct 2 – Protection Bottle Workshop – 10 am to 2 pm
Have you ever wanted to have a love potion or a potion for new beginnings? Look no further than our workshop on protections.
Oct 9 – Mountain Myths Workshop – 10 am to 2 pm
Ever heard the spooky folklore of the High Country? Familiar with the Brown Mountain Lights? This workshop highlight some of the strangely spooky places in and around Boone.
Oct 16 – Herbalism Workshop – 10 am to 2 pm
Check out our class on herbal drinks that help remedy coughs, colds and other common ailments. You will also go home with a gift! Stay and let our guide give a little history on the herbs and what they can do for you. Maybe even stick around for some folklore about the area.
Oct 23 – Candle Making Workshop – 10 am to 2 pm
Learn to make your own scented candles with scents that won’t trigger your allergies. Our candle making class will show you how to properly scent the candle with natural scents.
Oct 31 – Spooky Storytelling – 10 am to 2 pm
Bring the whole family for some slightly spooky, yet wholesome stories fit for all ages. Hear folklore from all over the mountains. We may even talk about the road that goes nowhere.
